Visiting Minneapolis would not be complete without a visit to Gluek’s (pronounced glicks) Bar & Restaurant. Open since 1855, this casual old charm Minneapolis institution is perfect to meet with vendors and old friends. A short walk from the hotel, located on 16th street, we will start the reception at 7:00 pm until we leave.

Joe Frank of Frank Gecker, LLP

Joe Frank regularly represents the newspaper industry in matters related to bankruptcy. He represented several newspapers in the critical vendor litigation case with K-Mart. Mr. Frank lectures frequently for the Illinois CPA Society and will speak about how bankruptcy reform affects media, especially in preferential transfers. He was admitted to the Illinois bar in 1993 and is admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and the United States Court of Appeals for the Third, Seventh and Ninth Circuits, and the United States Supreme Court. In 1986, Joe graduated magna cum laude from Carleton College with a B.A. He earned his J.D. with honors from the University of Chicago Law School in 1993. In 1986, Joe graduated magna cum laude from Carleton College with a B.A. He earned his J.D. with honors.

The Sarbanes Oxley expert for the Charlotte Observer will explain what the Sarbanes Oxley Act of 2002 is as well as discuss the changes in the act since inception. Also covered will be how SOX relates to our industry and departments with time for question and answers.

President’s Dinner/Host Event

New this year is a combined President’s Dinner/Host Event. At 5:00 pm we will have a dinner and awards ceremony at the hotel ball room. We will proceed directly from the ball room to transportation waiting to take us to the newly renovated Guthrie Theatre. We will attend a showing of Neil Simon’s Lost in Yonkers. Dress is semi-formal for the entire evening.

Dress

The weather in Minneapolis will be pleasant in October, a kind change to the sweltering heat most of us have
encountered over the summer. The average high in Minneapolis for October is 58 degrees. Bring casual
clothes for scheduled meetings and a jacket. For the president’s dinner/Host event bring semi-formal dress
appropriate for an evening at the theatre.
