Vendor Presentations, Food And Fun.

This event can’t be missed. The finest companies representing our industry are attending. From 12 noon until 4pm. There will be lots of information, fellowship and prizes. The format will be a little different this year, so come and see. Bring an appetite and desire to quench your thirst for education, food, drink and fellowship.

October 16th

Spouses and guests will depart at 8:30am for a trip to Mall of America, Minnesota’s largest attraction. In addition to shopping, an aquarium tour is scheduled. The trip is made even easier by taking the light rail just a few blocks from the hotel to the Mall and numerous restaurants.

Joe Frank of Frank Gecker, LLP

Joe Frank regularly represents the newspaper industry in matters related to bankruptcy. He represented several newspapers in the critical vendor litigation case with K-Mart. Mr. Frank lectures frequently for the Illinois CPA Society and will speak about how bankruptcy reform affects media, especially in preferential transfers. He was admitted to the Illinois bar in 1993 and is admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and the United States Court of Appeals for the Third, Seventh and Ninth Circuits, and the United States Supreme Court. In 1986, Joe graduated magna cum laude from Carleton College with a B.A. He earned his J.D. with honors from the University of Chicago Law School in 1993. Jan Weiner, Charlotte Observer

The Sarbanes Oxley expert for the Charlotte Observer will explain what the Sarbanes Oxley Act of 2002 is as well as discuss the changes in the act since inception. Also covered will be how SOX relates to our industry and departments with time for question and answers.

A special agent with the US Secret Service will share recent trends in currency counterfeiting, check fraud and credit card fraud.

President’s Dinner/Host Event

New this year is a combined President’s Dinner/Host Event. At 5:00 pm we will have a dinner and awards ceremony at the hotel ball room. We will proceed directly from the ball room to transportation waiting to take us to the newly renovated Guthrie Theatre. We will attend a showing of Neil Simon’s Lost in Yonkers. Dress is semi-formal for the entire evening.

Wednesday
October 18th

We are having a change in format this year on our last day. The morning will be very busy with speakers, a final business session and round tables. The day will
end at 1:30pm with a box lunch you can take with you on your way to the airport or to your next exciting Minneapolis destination.
